How To Start A Kubota Tractor Without A Key
- #1
I have managed to lose the ignition fundamental for my B5100. At the moment it is in the back of my van and I need to become information technology started to move it and go information technology into secure storage. Will it practice whatsoever damage if I somehow hotwire it or effort to power the starter solenoid directly to start it bypassing the switch altogether? I realise that it volition be a piddling more difficult to go going without the pre-heat first merely I think it volition kickoff without it. If I kickoff and use it in this manner will anything be harmed? A replacement ignition barrel and keys will cost a king's ransom here so I need to find an alternative. Any ideas?

I was told by a dealer in Phoenix that the keys are universal for the switch and a replacement is less than $10.

That is encouraging news. I assumed that the keys were a unique cut for each machine, like cars are............ The last plain, uncoded, non-electronic key I had to buy for a car here (in France) was almost $100! And annihilation Japanese is completely mad. If the keys are universal I will lodge one on ebay (Great britain) and hope for the best. Thanks for the quick responses.

The Kubota keys are non very secure. I have an M series and all M series tractors have the same key.
If you know anyone with the aforementioned series as your tractor their key will piece of work in yours.

I don't know about that tractor model, but on mine the fuel pump needs the key turned to run. And then hot wiring might be more than than one wire.

Aardvark,
Real simple, take a pair of jumper cables only claw upward the positive and touch the other terminate to the top of a glow plug wait about 30 seconds and so touch on it to the modest terminal on the solenoid and information technology will get-go.
No problem with come up from doing this.

Thanks for the info Wolfman! Sounds logical, and information technology will sure start easier with a piffling heat first.

Key for all B5100's is part number 66711-55140. Messicks indicates that it has been replaced by 66711-55240.
Proficient luck.

Keys are universal. Was looking at tractors a couple weeks ago and the guy asked if I wanted to drive it. Said certain, pulled my keys out of my pocket and fired the new machine up . He just smiled.

Yep, that seems to exist true. I only borrowed a key from hampshireborn. It was a spare from a different B series tractor and it works, and so problem solved. Thank you to all who take posted.
